Healthcare (VEP) operates emergency departments in over 30 hospitals
throughout California, Kansas, New Mexico, North Carolina, Texas and
Virginia. Our hospitals partners range from major urban trauma centers
to rural community hospitals. We also provide hospitalist
services in several California hospitals. Created in 1981,
VEP is a democratic medical group owned solely by our practicing
physicians, advanced practice clinicians, and office personnel.
VEP corporate headquarters are in Walnut Creek, California. Advanced Practice Clinicians (APCs) are employees of VEP. They receive an hourly base rate and an opportunity to earn productivity compensation at specific sites. APCs are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package which includes health, vision, dental, and life insurance, profit sharing, 401k, CME and license allowances. Our APCs also enjoy the benefit of flexible schedules, paid malpractice insurance with tail coverage and the opportunity to become a stockholder which allows them to become actively involved in the governance of the company. Sutter Solano Medical Center Vallejo, California Sutter Solano Medical Center (SSMC) is a busy 23 bed department with an average of 38,000 patients annually. There are 27 hours of physician coverage and 30 hours of APC coverage daily. Vallejo is situated midway between San Francisco and Sacramento. Solano County is home to rolling hillsides, waterfronts and fertile farmland. County residents can enjoy day trips to the San Francisco Bay area, Lake Tahoe region and the Napa and Sonoma Valleys. Sutter Coast Hospital Crescent City, California Sutter Coast Hospital (SCH) is a 69 bed acute care, community-based, not-for-profit hospital serving residents of Del Norte County, California and Curry County, Oregon. SCH is a Sutter Health affiliate. The Emergency Department at SCH serves approximately 21,500 patients per year. It is a designated Oregon Trauma Center and EDAP certified (Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics). The ED has 24 hours of physician coverage and 12 hours of Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) coverage daily. The physician shifts are 11 and 13 hours in length. There is also an Adult Hospitalist program. Crescent City is located on the Pacific Coast in the upper northwestern part of California approximately 20 miles from the Oregon border. This city offers an abundance of outdoor recreational activities due to the close proximity of the Pacific Ocean, the Smith River and Klamath River, Redwood National and several State Parks. Western Medical Center Santa Ana Santa Ana, California Western Medical Center Santa Ana (WMCSA) is a 326 bed Level II Trauma Center. WMCSA treats approximately 23,000 patients annually. The department has 16 beds, along with a Fast Track area. WMCSA has electronic patient tracking, PACs radiology system, and bedside ultrasound. The ED has 29 hours of physician coverage and 8 hours of Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) coverage daily. WMCSA is located in the heart of Orange County. Ocean beaches are nearby, along with Disneyland and Knott’s Berry Farm. Cheer on the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim or the Anaheim Ducks; or take advantage of the tremendous opportunities for shopping and dining. John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital Indio, California John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital was founded in 1996 by a group of physicians. Originally called Indio Community Hospital, it grew from a 112-bed facility to the 158-bed JFK Memorial Hospital of today. JFK has 30 hours of Physician coverage and 22 hours of APC coverage. As an acute care facility, the hospital provides medical care to thousands of residents in the Central/Eastern Coachella Valley. Nestled in the Coachella Valley, Indio offers year round sunny climate and provides the perfect atmosphere in which to work, live and play. It is the home of 8 major annual festivals and a host of highly-acclaimed events that bring culture, music, sports, entertainment and a variety of cuisine to the area. It is also a playground for world-class polo enthusiasts and is a haven for golf and tennis players. California Hospital Medical Center Los Angeles, California California Hospital Medical Center (CHMC) is a 316 bed, Level II trauma center and one of the major emergency care providers in the area with the backup capabilities of an acute care medical center. As one of the busiest Emergency Departments in the area, CHMC provides treatment to over 66,000 patients annually. 27 beds in the main emergency department first opened its doors in 1887, and 8 beds in E.D. South (Fast Track). The ED has 44 hours of physician coverage and 24 hours of Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) coverage daily. CHMC is located at the Southern end of downtown Los Angeles, just a few blocks from Staples Center and LA Live. Los Angeles offers a multitude of cultural and entertainment options. Choose from the Hollywood Bowl, Greek Theater, Huntington Library or Getty Museum. Cheer on your favorite team – LA Lakers, LA Clippers, LA Dodgers, LA Kings, USC Trojans or UCLA Bruins. Sutter Amador Hospital Jackson, California Sutter Amador Hospital (SAH) is a state-of-the-art hospital and serves as the primary acute care provider in Amador County. The 8-bed ED treats over 22,000 patients annually. There are 24 hours of physician coverage in 12 hour shifts as well as 10 hours of APC support. Jackson is located near the Sierra Nevada foothills and blends the ambiance of a gold rush era downtown district with Victorian era neighborhoods. Jackson hosts famous seasonal events and festivities that are popular throughout Sacramento Valley and Northern California. Emanuel Medical Center Turlock, California Emanuel Medical Center is a 209 bed Level IV trauma center in the heart of Turlock, CA. As one of the busiest Emergency Departments in the Central Valley, EMC provides treatment to over 60,000 patients annually. EMC offers electronic patient tracking, PACs radiology system and bedside ultrasound and scribes. The ED has 40 hours of physician coverage and 40 hours of Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) coverage daily. Turlock is in the heart of California’s Central Valley. You will enjoy a mid-sized urban culture with a relaxed rural environment. Turlock offers cultural art, sporting activities, and several Nearby attractions including San Francisco and Monterey Bay, Yosemite National Park and the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains. White Memorial Medical Center Los Angeles, California White Memorial Medical Center (WMMC) is a 353 bed community, teaching hospital, located in East Los Angeles. As one of the busiest Emergency Departments in the area, WMMC provides treatment to 53,000 patients annually. The department has 28 beds, and a designated Fast Track area. The ED has 52 hours of physician coverage and 34 hours of Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) coverage daily with some double coverage and productivity based compensation. WMMC is located in East Los Angeles. Los Angeles offers a multitude of cultural and entertainment options. Choose from the Hollywood Bowl, Greek Theater, Huntington Library or Getty Museum. Oak Valley District Hospital Oakdale, California Oak Valley Hospital (OVH) is a member of Dignity Healthcare, and its patient satisfactory survey scores are consistently the top for all Dignity hospitals. The brand new hospital building opened in 2012 with a 12 bed ED and with 24 hours of physician coverage and 12 hours of APC coverage daily. OVH treats approximately 20,000 patients annually. Oakdale is known as ‘The Gateway to Yosemite,’ offering an abundance of outdoor activities. Many nearby lakes provide several recreational water activities such as swimming, fishing, sail-boating, and water skiing. Enjoy concerts in the park, country club, and hiking as well! Mercy Medical Center Merced, California This busy 26 bed emergency department sees an average of 64,000 patients annually. There are 45 hours of physician coverage daily and 40 hours of APC coverage. Mercy Merced provides the opportunity to teach in the Family Practice Residency Program. Merced is located in the heart of California’s agricultural Central Valley. It’s a dynamic, mid-size community, with a friendly small town atmosphere. UC Merced provides new educational and economic opportunities to the already established growth of the region. Merced’s population is youthful and diverse and includes an affordable housing market and within 2 to 3 hours of San Francisco, Santa Cruz, Monterey Bay, Yosemite and the Wine Country. Plains Regional Medical Center Clovis, New Mexico Plains Regional Medical Center (PRMC) is a 106 bed hospital that serves a population of over 110,000 people within a 100-mile radius of the city of Clovis. PRMC is owned by a non-profit foundation, affiliated with the Presbyterian Healthcare Services. As the busiest Emergency Department in the area, PRMC provides treatment to almost 30,000 patients annually. PRMC first opened its doors in the spring of 2005 and currently has 16 beds in the emergency department. The ED has 24 hours of physician and 24 hours of Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) coverage daily. Plains Regional Medical Center is located in Clovis, NM and serves Eastern NM and Western Texas areas. A largely agricultural community, it is also noted for its role in early rock music history as well as Cannon Air Force Base. Enjoy Clovis’ many rodeos, auctions, concerts and the Hillcrest Park Zoo. Hutchinson Regional Medical Center – Physician Assistants OR Nurse Practitioners Hutchinson, KS Hutchinson Regional Medical Center (HRMC) is a 199 bed hospital located in Hutchinson, KS and is a Level III trauma center. It is currently undergoing a remodel to increase the size of the ED from 10 beds to 19 beds. HRMC is Joint Commission accredited, has an Emergent Stroke Ready designation, and Health Grades top award for Patient Safety in 2012 and 2013. Physicians work 12 hour shifts (7a-7p/7p-7a) and there are 12 hours of APC coverage per day. Hutchinson/Reno County is located one hour from Wichita. The town offers a wide array of attractions and museums in addition to hosting variety of special events. Dillon Nature Center is located on 100 acres in northeast Hutchinson. This National Urban Wildlife Sanctuary showcases both plant and wildlife. There are multiple golf courses in Hutchinson including both public and private courses. The renowned Prairie Dunes Country Club was designed by golf legend, Perry Maxwell. It is ranked 24th nationally by Golf Digestand 25th worldwide by Golf Magazine. Other attractions also include the Hutchinson Zoo and Kansas Kids Museum. Downtown Hutchinson offers unique shopping experiences including an Antique District and there are also an array of national retailers located in the Hutchinson Mall. Smyth County Community Hospital Marion, Virginia Smyth County Community Hospital (SCCH) is a 153 bed, not-for-profit general medical and surgical hospital with an affiliated 109-bed nursing care facility, and a variety of outreach programs. SCCH has served the region for over 45 years with over 45 physicians serving on its active medical staff and offers women’s services, emergency services, cardiopulmonary services, and home and long-term care. Other services include the SleepZone Diagnostic Center, the Outreach Community Pharmacy and cardiac rehabilitation. The SCCH Emergency Department is a certified level III department with about 50 beds and provides treatment to over 17,000 patients annually. Smyth County Community Hospital is located in historic Marion, Virginia. Marion is the gateway to both Hungry Mother State Park and the highest peak in Virginia, Mount Rogers. Within miles of hiking and biking trails, stocked trout streams and a 500 acre mountain lake, Marion is an ideal place for a vacation - or to call home. Russell County Medical Center Lebanon, Virginia Russell County Medical Center (RCMC) is a 78-bed, not-for-profit general medical and surgical hospital dedicated to bringing quality healthcare home to Southwest Virginia. It is a community hospital offering a full array of primary care and some specialty services, including behavioral health. With 7 beds, the RCMC Emergency Department provides treatment to over 14,000 patients annually. Russell County is known for its excellent trout fishing and numerous hiking and biking trails. The area’s fully-accredited school systems include several elementary and secondary schools, as well as vocational programs and nearby community colleges. Lebanon, Virginia offers a forward-thinking community and family mindset and is only a few hours from the captivating music, food, and nightlife of Charlotte, North Carolina. Johnston Memorial Hospital Abingdon, Virginia Johnston Memorial Hospital (JMH), the first LEEDs-certified "green" hospital in Southwest Virginia , is a not-for-profit , 116-bed (all private rooms) modern medical facility dedicated to bringing quality health care to the residents of this region which covers Southwest Virginia and extends into our bordering states. With 29 beds, the JMH Emergency Department provides treatment to over 40, 000 patients annually. Johnston Memorial Hospital is located in Abingdon, VA , a center point in Washington County and a designated Virginia Historic Landmark. Located in the Great Appalachian Valley, the town encompasses several historically significant sites and features a fine arts and crafts scene centered on the galleries and museums along Main Street. Novant Health Rowan Medical Center Salisbury, North Carolina Novant Health Rowan Medical Center is a 268 bed medical center, located in Salisbury, North Carolina. As one of the busiest Emergency Departments in the area, RMC provides treatment to over 45,000 patients annually. The department has 28 beds, and a designated Fast Track area. The ED has 40 hours of physician coverage and 60 hours of Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) coverage daily. NHRMC is located in historic Salisbury, North Carolina near the gently rolling hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and a few hours from the magnificent Carolina beaches. The community is conveniently located near Interstate 85 and midway between two airports, Charlotte and Greensboro, making travel easy and providing access to great recreation, fine dining and some of the best colleges and universities in the country.
