Prestige and job satisfaction await an experienced Cardiac Surgery Physician Assistant willing to join the cardiac surgery program with the Hoffman Heart and Vascular Institute at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, a 617-bed tertiary hospital located in Hartford, Connecticut.
You will join a team of 10 physician assistants and 6 cardiac surgeons delivering comprehensive care across all aspects of pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative patient care. As one of the largest cardiac surgery centers in New England, we perform over 800 cases per year.
The position offers flexible scheduling based on a 50 hour work week. A high level of clinical autonomy is expected. In hospital night call and weekend rotations are required. The ideal candidate will be NCCPA certified, hold a current Connecticut state license, and be ACLS certified. Two years of cardiovascular surgical or critical care experience is preferred.

You will perform all ICU procedures including percutaneous tracheostomy, endoscopy, arterial line and central line insertion as well as bronchoscopy. Cases include shoulders, knees, total joints, spine, and fractures. There is no call. The position is 42 hours per week. The PA can work four day shifts! There will be multiple shifts (no overnight)! Responsibilities include:
· Surgical first assist
· Patient evaluations
· Coordinate with PT and OT
· Cortisone and Sin-Visc injections
· Order and evaluate tests
· Pre and post-operative H&P’s and follow-up
· Reductions, aspirations, casting, and splinting
· Hospital rounding
· Write scripts
· Evaluate X-ray, CT Scan, and MRI
Successful candidate should be NCCPA-certified. The group prefers that candidates have ties to the New England area. They will train a new graduate that has a strong desire for orthopaedics. At a very minimum, the candidate must have completed an orthopaedic rotation. The PA must have excellent interpersonal skills, be a self-starter, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. MASSACHUSETTS (Coastal within 50 minutes of the Boston area)
Physician Assistant – Orthopaedics (WILL TRAIN!)
Job Description Single Specialty Group of Orthopaedic Surgeons seek to add a full-time Physician Assistant. This group handles sports, general, and total joints cases. The new PA will work in both Clinic and the OR (performing first assist). Cases will focus on sports (knee and shoulders) and general. The PA will provide patient evaluations, surgical first assist, removing casts and pins, consultation and patient evaluation and education, write scripts, and order and review lab tests. Call is 1/7. Also, the new PA can run their own parallel clinic!
Successful candidate should be NCCPA-certified and have some ties to the New England area. Previous orthopaedic/surgical experience is greatly preferred, but will train! The group will consider a new graduate especially with prior experience as a Surgical Tech., ATC, PT, and Orthopaedic RN. The new PA will see a high volume of total knee and hip replacements, fractures and some general cases. This Doctor utilizes the latest techniques in minimally invasive surgery. This Orthopaedic Group has a high volume practice that specializes in total joints, shoulder, knees, and trauma cases. This position is Hospital based with a majority of the time in the Operating Room. Responsibilities include: pre and post operative surgical H&P’s, joint injections (sin-visc), first assisting, writing scripts, Hospital admit and discharge, rounding, coordinate with PT, consultation and patient education, reviewing lab results in hospital setting. The position is Monday thru Friday (40 to 45 hours per week). Successful candidate should be NCCPA-certified, highly-motivated, hard working, and work well in a fast-paced environment. Experienced Ortho PA preferred or will train a Surgical PA from another area. Will train a new PA if they have OR experience as a Surgical First Assist Tech.
