Cardiac Thoracic Surgical PA (WILL TRAIN!)
Job Description: Well-established Cardiac Surgeon Group seeks a full-time Physician Assistant. Major procedures the group performs are: coronary artery bypass grafting, off-pump coronary artery bypass, valve repair and replacement and thoracic surgery. Responsibilities include the following: Daily rounds in ICU and floor patients, first assist for open heart procedures, patient evaluation and consultation, H&P’s, perform various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures under the supervision of the surgeon, work closely and assist the surgeon in providing quality efficient, continuous and cost-effective care during the patient's hospitalization. Also, the new PA will see patients in a clinic setting. The PA will also be responsible for some call. Successful candidate should be NCCPA-certified. Preference is for experienced candidates, but new candidates with cardiac rotation or thoracic would be fine! Prefer local candidates and must have ties to the area.

Job Description: Healthcare System seeks to add a full-time Physician Assistant to directly work with a very successful Orthopaedic Surgeon. Previous orthopaedic experience is preferred, but will train a new PA with a strong interest in orthopaedics! The position includes both the OR and the Clinic. The position should average 40 hours per week. Physician Assistant – Orthopaedics (EXPERIENCE REQUIRED!)
Job Description: Single Specialty Group of Orthopaedic Surgeons seek to add a full-time Physician Assistant. This position will be 100% clinic based. The new PA will run their own Orthopaedic Prompt Care Clinic. Cases will include new and existing patients and consists of a variety of musculoskeletal injuries. Responsibilities include: H&P’s, injury evaluation, fracture care, aspirations, injections, rounds and providing patient education. Successful candidate should be NCCPA-certified/eligible, highly motivated and hard working. Previous orthopaedic experience is required! This is a full-time position which consists of five 8 hour shifts. The new PA needs to be an independent thinker, able to work well in a fast-paced environment and needs to have excellent interpersonal skills. The successful candidate should have a minimum of two years PA experience in urgent care, orthopaedics or emergency department (other areas will be considered).

The group prefers someone with experience but would train a new PA that has worked in another Surgical specialty such as General Surgery. New graduates should be very close to receiving NJ license and have an ortho rotation and prior Surgical First Assist background will be considered.

SOUTH CAROLINA (Greenville/Spartanburg area)
Physician Assistant – Orthopaedics
Job Description: Well-established Orthopaedic Group seeks to add another full-time Physician Assistant to their team. The group handles a strong volume of cases in total joints, sports, spine, fractures and some arthritis care. They also have a Physical Therapy Center and full onsite Diagnostics. The new PA will work directly with two General Orthopaedic Surgeons.
The position will consist of 60% OR and the balance in the Clinic. Call coverage is 1/7 and 1/4 or 1/5 on weekends. Responsibilities include: office procedures, first assist, H&P’s, removing casts and pins, fracture reduction, joint injections and aspirations, writing scripts, rounds, consultation and patient evaluation and education and reviewing lab results. The new PA will also coordinate with in-house PT and ATC’s. The normal work week is 40 to 45 hours. Additional call is paid directly. The group prefers some experience, but will train a new graduate that has some prior healthcare experience (PT, RN, EMT, ATC, Ortho Tech. etc.). New graduates must have completed an orthopaedic rotation. This group prefers candidates with ties to the southeast!

The successful candidate will be integral to the initiation of the program curriculum, the ARC-PA accreditation application, securing of clinical sites and hiring of additional PA faculty. This 12-month position will begin in summer 2013, but a willingness to consult part-time prior to the start date is desired. The program is scheduled to begin in fall 2016 pending accreditation approval. CSM is minutes from thriving downtown Omaha that boasts ample opportunities to experience art, theater, music, cultural events, beautiful gardens, excellent cuisine and a world-renowned zoo.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: earned terminal degree (masters level) from a PA program accredited by ARC-PA and a regionally accredited university
- Evidence of management experience or potential
- Be a licensed Physician Assistant
- Experience teaching at the collegiate level
- Proficiency in the use of standard office applications on personal computers
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret accreditation criteria, state agency regulations, and familiarity with best practices in PA education
Position Responsibilities (in part):
- Oversee and direct the development of a new PA programs at CSM in accordance with ARC-PA requirements
- Write initial self-study for ARC-PA accreditation due fall 2015 and orchestrate site visit in spring 2016.
- Secure clinical sites for program beginning in fall 2016
- Interview and recommend candidates for faculty positions within the department; ensure that credentials of faculty meet accreditation requirements and are properly documented
- Serve as a liaison between faculty, the division chair and the Vice President for Academic Affairs
- Refine and supervise the curriculum for the program as deemed necessary.
- Ensure that the PA programmatic curriculum, policies, and procedures meet state and national accreditation standards (ARC-PA)
- Until the program begins, teach 3-credits per semester in an area of expertise

The Master of Physician Assistant Studies Program invites applicants for a 12 month, part-time (.75 FTE), faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning June 1, 2013, to coordinate and teach research within the MPAS program.
Responsibilities: Research faculty will work under the direction of the curriculum director. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following.
• Review and revise MPAS research course sequence, research curriculum content, coordinate the research course sequence and serve as primary faculty instructor for research courses; overseeing competencies related to research in curriculum..
• Guide and support student research in the MPAS Program by directing student research projects from research design to implementation, analysis and dissemination and facilitate faculty development towards guiding student projects and supporting student research skills learning.
• Assist in dissemination and publication of student and faculty research, offer lessons learned interacting with externally to gather input into research design and focus; work directly with community partners to understand and contribute to dialogue about MPAS Program’s research and its relevance in community interaction.
• Investigate grant opportunities, write and develop grant proposals to support sustainability of a research program for the MPAS Program. Guide and assist other faculty to develop, write, and submit proposals.
• Be an active member of the MPAS Program faculty through collaboration and organizational development within the department and with other programs in the Henrietta Schmoll School of Health as well as supporting MPAS faculty research efforts, attending MPAS faculty meetings and retreats, and participating in University- and School-wide interprofessional research efforts.
Requirements: A masters or doctorate in a relevant field with experience in research, as well as in higher education, healthcare professions education or profession based research, is required. Must have the ability to conduct both qualitative and quantitative research studies and evaluation. Preference will be given to candidates with a track record of publishing academic articles, and working with graduate students and faculty. Experience in securing grants preferred.
Previous experience teaching in an academic or medical setting strongly preferred as is experience in research or graduate level project oversight. Must have strong interpersonal and organizational skills, must demonstrate an understanding of the knowledge and skills necessary in working with researchers and healthcare practitioners for the delivery of quality, patient centered care by PAs. Must handle timelines and priorities in a collaborative team environment, demonstrate enthusiasm about working across disciplines and community sectors and a strong commitment to fulfill the mission of the PA program and St. Catherine University. MPAS faculty will be expected to maintain medical and professional proficiencies through ongoing certification and pursuit of continuing education in areas of program need or areas of expertise necessary for increasing the capacity or strength of the program content delivery, student learning and clinical practice.
